Emotional blackmail and empathy.
Ching-Hui Yang is fascinated by emotions. With the help of an audience survey, she mapped emotions and translated them into jewellery. The work consists of balanced, rectangular shapes of 3D printed synthetic resin, gold and gold vermeil. That clarity is deceptive, because the inspiration is problematic. Her work is called F.O.G., which stands for Fear, Obligation and Guilt. Fear, obligation and guilt are the emotions that are exploited in emotional blackmail. In emotional blackmail, both parties, the oppressor and the oppressed, are victims. A double-edged sword.
Emotionele chantage en empathie.
Ching-Hui Yang is gefascineerd door emoties. Met behulp van een publieksonderzoek heeft ze emoties in kaart gebracht en vertaald in sieraden. Het werk bestaat uit gebalanceerde, rechthoekige vormen van ge-3D-printe kunsthars, goud en verguld zilver. Die helderheid is bedrieglijk want de inspiratie is beladen. Haar werk heet F.O.G., wat staat voor Fear, Obligation and Guilt. Angst, verplichting en schuld zijn de emoties die worden uitgebuit bij emotionele chantage. Bij emotionele chantage zijn beide partijen, de onderdrukker en onderdrukte, slachtoffer. Een zwaard dat aan twee kanten snijdt.
