3 November 2017

On the wall to the cash desk you can enjoy the works of Ton of Holland:

My last series of works is about jewelry and physical discomfort. The design and shape of jewely and implants were my biggest inspiration. You can wear them on the outside of your body and the implants on the inside. Bracelets, rings, necklaces, pendants, brooches but also steel hip constructions, metal pins staples for the skin, sutures etc. The technique is a mix of painting, photo collages and embroidery on canva Physicality and sexuality subtly visible in form and image. The whole series consists of 32 paintings of 100 x 100 cm  The background colours are hospital white, blood red, operating green and dead black. Stones and their sharpeners are an important source of inspiration and sometimes the paintings literally sparkle.
