Reuse in grand fashion

They are accessories rather than jewellery in the classic sense. For quite a few years, Michelle Lowe-Holder seems to have one rule of the game: work with materials that are already there. Nitrous oxide canisters picked up off the street, for example. Or very thin birch wood left over from industry. Using the laser cutter, she cuts figure eights from plastic scraps. She connects the dozens of shapes with leather cord. Also rescued, of course, from the waste bin of the leather industry!
Ronit Cohen is a busy bee who creates graphic designs, paints, works with textiles and photographs. Not long ago, she gave a workshop on paper beads. That’s when the flame ignited that led to her paper jewellery of today. The transformation from 2D paper to a 3D form continues to fascinate her.
