The possibility of new beginnings

The possibility of new beginnings

The name Nobahar has Persian origins and means ‘New Spring’. Very appropriate for jewellery that represents new ideas and rebirth. Sogand Nobahar, the artist behind Nobahar Design Milano, is from Tehran and now lives in Italy. Her first bracelet was about violence against women. The cross-section features a lotus flower, symbolising growth from muddy waters to the light.

She is also inspired by memories of cities one had to leave behind. The shapes of the rings and bracelets of ‘MyCity Tehran’ are based on the Milad Tower, which towers over the city. Another MyCity series is based on a church in Naples. They make a statement about forced departure but are not a literal indictment. In fact, the jewellery itself radiates joy and zest for life, symbolising the possibility of a new beginning.

Nobahar Design Milano’s collections are made of the plastic polyamide. A laser sinters, or hardens, the shape in a container of polyamide powder. Because with this technique you add only the material you need, nothing is wasted. Next, the jewellery is coloured with paint that is as natural as possible. That colouring is done by hand, making each piece unique.
