Wie de witte porseleinen sieraden van de serie ‘Flow’ bekijkt, ziet alleen een wit landschap. Maar als de geest ondergedompeld is in het landschap, zoals Kimiko Suzuki het noemt, wordt het stromen van water zichtbaar. Kimiko Suzuki licht toe dat het motief van het werk een traditionele Japanse Zen-tuin is, genaamd Karesansui. “Dat is een tuin zonder water, waarbij rotsen, stenen en zand worden gebruikt om prachtige natuurlijke landschappen zoals bergen en de zee tot uitdrukking te brengen.”
If you look at the white porcelain jewellery of the ‘Flow’ series, they appear to be nothing but a white landscape. But when mind is submerged in the landscape, as Kimiko Suzuki calls it, the flow of water becomes visible. Kimiko Suzuki explains that the motif of the work is a traditional Japanese Zen Garden called Karesansui. “That is a garden without water, where rocks, stones and sand are used to express beautiful natural landscapes such as mountains and the sea.”
