Nature under a bell jar

Nature under a bell jar

By: Saskia van Es

Itir Saran, is an architect and teacher in Turkey and New York. And the designer behind Stella Tundra. She uses found materials from nature as the basis for her pendants. In the kiln the material burns away and is replaced by ceramics.

She wants the organic material to “freeze in time, like an eternal snowflake”. Itir highlights the whimsical shapes with gold glaze. Each piece is unique and cannot be reproduced. She says the result is jewellery but also object. That’s why you can hang it under a glass bell jar. Like in a Wunderkammer
